Diamonds are an odorless form of cannabis concentrates – specifically isolates of cannabinoids that form a crystalline solid, like a diamond. Cannabis diamonds are usually made from THCA or CBD. 

How are diamonds consumed? 

The only way to turn THCA diamonds into THC is to heat them, typically best achieved by dabbing or vaporizing them. Many people enjoy adding liquid terpenes or High Terpene Extract (HTE) to the diamonds for the entourage effect.

How are THC diamonds made?

Cannabinoids must be extracted from mature harvested cannabis plants. CO2, butane, ice water, and alcohol/ethanol are all common extraction methods. After extraction, the concentrate is winterized, allowing chemicals to cool to remove impurities. 

Winterization means removing fats and lipids for THC diamonds so a purer substance remains. Winterization also removes terpenes, trichomes, and flavonoids that produce other desired and beneficial effects. After winterization, the mixture is mixed with more chemicals and run through lab equipment that uses pressure, motion, and heat to refine the concentrate.

In the end, there is a large chunk of solid crystal wherein all THCA molecules are bonded together.

What makes a really good diamond?

It should be no surprise that high-quality cannabis plants produce higher-quality diamonds. But the process in the lab is also important. Many concentrates are created using chemicals that can harm you if the extract is not completely pure and purged.
