What is Sauce?

Clearly California High-Terpene Extract Sauce

Sauce is a popular cannabis concentrate typically made with a flavorful, high terpene content and a sticky, liquid consistency, hence its name. It can be made from trim, buds, or fresh frozen cannabis.

How is sauce consumed?

Like diamonds, sauce needs heat to be consumed, and dabbing or vaporizing sauce is typically preferred.

Fun fact: Our Twin Fin products are so popular because the full-spectrum sauce extract pairs so well with the THC diamonds. It’s a pairing that produces the entourage effect.

How is sauce made?

Sauce is made with a similar process to other cannabis concentrates, where a solvent is sued to strip the cannabis plant material of oils and trichomes. Solvents for making sauce include butane, propane, and ethanol. Sauce is then winterized, meaning additional fats and lipids are removed, and then it’s purified with many layers of filtration.

Another fun fact: Clearly California uses fresh frozen flower to make sauce, which produces live resin – a higher quality extract with a stronger flavor profile

What makes a really good sauce?

It should be no surprise that high-quality cannabis plants produce a higher-quality sauce. Fire in, fire out. As mentioned above, using fresh frozen flower rather than dry cured flower makes a difference in quality. However, the process for extraction is also essential. Many concentrates are created using chemicals that can harm you if the extract is not cared for in a way that removes all impurities.

Clearly California cares about creating the highest quality products with lab results that test “non-detect” for all impurities. We achieve this in the lab with a “low and slow” philosophy. We keep the heat and pressure low and take our time producing our sauce so our consumers can have the cleanest and best quality product possible.
